Ah, my little sahib, I think it's time to refresh your memory as to why your 'detractors' rebut you so offten. Please look at this often enough until you get a sense of ethics or you see past the short term dollars:
You see, we have a saying in my country, "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he'll eat forever."
Normal Americans fully expect foreign students to come here and learn how to fish. And then go back to their home countries to teach their fellow countrymen, and thus raise the standard of living there. The onus is on THEM to raise their OWN standard of living.
That's also why we have the Peace Corps, because in some places there are not enough students in the pipeline to head back to country x to do their patriotic duty. We share buckets of water with the unfortunate without inviting them to the entire well. They go home and drill their own wells.
That there are enough students to go home to India and China to go raise up their standards of living, as well as reproduce as citizens of their OWN COUNTRY is encouraging to me. China and India need all the help they can get to make it into the LAST CENTURY'S standard of living.
They won't do that with their best & brightest lollygagging at Wal-Mart in the USA with a Green Card.
As my tester friends would say, it's 'as Designed' that they go home to make families and raise their fellow countrymen's standard of living. If they're REALLY the 'best & brightest' then they're welcome to stay here, but they're the exception, not the rule.
Even Chinese in their 30s know how it really works, that they should go home to the mother country to raise a family. They have a sense of patriotism, even to the PRC, and I respect that.
It's too bad you Indian folks do not-- because the Chinese will come into their own in the 21st century, while most India will not have advanced one iota. The next 100 years will be like the last 100 years: bribery, corruption, squalor, anemic little wars with Pakistan & China.
And why? Because disingenuous desis like yourself turn the 'fishing model' on its end with weepy screeds that call guest workers 'immigrants' -- and that there's some type of "brain drain" going on then of course folks like me, who remember will respond with things like Oh noes! The Indians & Chinese are leaving!
Try to understand that we don't need you. You need us, to teach you how to fish. And then to go make YOUR OWN rich fishy lake. If you blow it due to the prevailing values of your country (read: you don't grow up), well.. at least you had the chance.
What you're doing now is poisoning the lake. There will be no more 'bright light on the hill' because you have extinguished it. And all the while your fellow desis & you profit off your fellow countrymen back in India by depriving them of your wisdom and standard of living. For a few "diminishing in value" pieces of fiat paper, which you consider a "Ponzi Scheme that Works." We went over that in the last blog entry, no?
That's enough, my little sahib. Maybe you'll come to your senses. But I'm not holding my breath.
